The Hairdressers' Co-operative
Society Ltd was formed by the Master Hairdressers' Association in
1944, for the purpose of supplying hairdressing products and equipment
to its members at the best possible price & then return any
end of years profits back to the members.
In 1950 the Co-op purchased 237 Grote
Street Adelaide. This property was previously the home of Sir. George
Kingston, Surveyor General to Colonel Light.
Since then the building has been demolished,
re built and then renovated to result in the modern showroom and
warehouse we now know.
Membership has increased rapidly from
the original 74 members to 3,800 today & continues to grow as
hairdressers discover through their membership, the benefits of
being part owners of the oldest hairdressing & beauty product
supplier in South Australia.
Members still enjoy their profit return with professional products that include Luminart, Voila, Affinage, GKMBJ, Kadus, Free Limix, Loreal, Schwarzkopf, DeLorenzo and Wella plus quality retail products such as, IC, EKS, Imunal, Affinage Essentials, GKMBJ, Matrix, PPS and many more. Also available to members are beauty products and an extensive range of quality equipment including Joiken.
Co-op members benefit from the frequently
run "cutting edge" education courses and the support of
qualified Technical Advisors.
The Co-op offers a service level second
to none with a target of same day order despatch ex warehouse whenever
possible.
In recent years, the Co-op has expanded, delivering their expertise to members with cash and carry stores at Salisbury, Royston Park, Morphett Vale and Ascot Park in addition to the Head Office outlet at Grote St in the City. Co-op Area Managers also regularly visit all major SA country areas as well as Broken Hill & Mildura.
The Co-op has been very fortunate
in employing highly qualified staff to ensure delivery of product
and knowledge combined with the best service in the industry. The
diligence of these employees provides the basis for the success
of the Co-op and the ongoing healthy return to its members.
